November, 2011
November is National Diabetes Month, and as a proud supporter, Glucerna recently marked the occasion by participating in Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes® in Columbus, Ohio. Step Out walks are family events held nationally for those who want to get involved and help stop diabetes.*
Despite ongoing efforts to fight and stop diabetes, there are nearly 26 million children and adults in the US living with diabetes today. Another 79 million are at high risk for developing type 2 diabetes. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, someone is diagnosed with diabetes every 17 seconds, and recent estimates project that as many as 1 in 3 American adults will have diabetes in 2050.
The American Diabetes Association is asking individuals to take a pledge and raise their hand to Stop Diabetes®.
How can you be part of the solution? Lots of ways:
- Take the American Diabetes Association Pledge on Facebook®.
- Text JOIN to 69866 (standard data and message rates apply).
- Visit www.stopdiabetes.com.
- Call 1-800-DIABETES.
- Participate in a Step Out walk near you, on your own or with family or friends, in one of the 130 Step Out Events scheduled nationwide. Find a Step Out Walk near you.
- * Consult a doctor before starting any weight loss plan, especially if you have diabetes or other health problems, are under 18, pregnant, breastfeeding, or want to lose more than 30 pounds. Do not lose more than 2 pounds per week after the first week. Rapid weight loss may cause health problems. If you notice physical changes during weight loss such as dizziness, hair loss, or interruptions in menstrual cycle, you should talk to a doctor immediately.
Get plenty of fiber — it can make you feel full, which might help promote weight loss.
Glucerna Shake gives me vitamins without overeating.
Now I know that there's a new way of eating. It's easy and it's so convenient! It's giving me comfort
and confidence to do what I need to do to lose weight.
